PANO – The Hai Duong provincial People’s Committee will spend about VND 19 billion to upgrade its Literature Temple of Mao Dien in Cam Giang district, said the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism on August 1st.
The project is implemented in the 2014-2015 period to restore the management board’s office, build a stone embankment, and upgrade roads, parking lots and drainage.
The Literature Temple of Mao Dien, a national relic site, is the second largest Literature Temple in Vietnam, after the temple in Hanoi.
Over more than 500 years, the temple is a place where 600 doctors of Hai Duong province, as a symbol of traditional fondness for learning, and Confucius have been worshipped, and where outstanding Confucian scholars of the province were honored.
