Minority ethnic groups supported to improve life conditions

People’s Committee in HCMC’s District 8 where there are largest population of minority ethnic groups in the city said that they were supported with policies and programs to improve their live conditions.


The district has 14 races including Chinese, Cham, Khmer, Nung, Tay, Muong, Thai, Dao, Ko-ho, Bana, Nhang, Xtieng, Gia Rai and Ede.


From 2009, the district has provided loans VND15 billion (US$708,215) to 1,400 low-income households of minority ethnic groups for their own business as well as given hundreds scholarships Nguyen Huu Tho and studying devices to children of minority ethnic groups worth nearly VND2.5 billion (US$118,035)



On the same day, People’s Committee in the highlands province of Gia Lai said that more than 400 tons of rice was provided to minority ethnic groups in between-crop period when the districts lack foods annually. 785 people in districts Dak Doa, Chu Se, Chu Puh, Chu Prong, Mang Yang, Krong Pa, Ia Pa, Phu Thien, Kbang, Khong Chro, Dka Po, Duc Co, Ia Grai will receive each 15 kilogram of rice per month.


People’s Committee in the highlands province of Lam Dong has just approved housing development program with the vision to 2020.


As per the program, the Government will allocate VND 1,200 billion (US$ 56,657,223) for building or repairing houses of 3,500 families who served in the cause of the nation’s revolutionary fight and 7,700 disadvantaged households in rural districts and low-income families in urban districts, dormitories and houses for state-run staffs.
