In the afternoon of July 30, 2014, Vice Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Bui Cach Tuyen – Head of Project Steering Committee had the meeting with JICA delegation of the terminal evaluation of the project “Building National Biodiversity Data System” (NBDS).
The project has been implemented from November 2011 to March 2015 with the aim of developing the first generation of national biodiversity database systems and have achieved the results as follows:
(1) Develop the structure of NBDS at the Vietnam Environment Administration in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Ministry of Science and Technology, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and relevant agencies, organizations and other research institutes, …
(2) Strengthen cooperation mechanisms with other agencies in sharing, management, exploitation and use of information and data of NBDS.
(3) Develop a database for Nam Dinh province as part of NBDS.
(4) Improve management and use capacity of NBDS.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Motohiro Hasegawa – Head of JICA delegation said that all project’s results are timely and high effective.
The project is also building two important documents, including a master plan for the maintenance and operation of the system NBDS and the Draft Circular on biodiversity information sharing.
