The Prime Minister gave the instructions at a review meeting on restructuring of SOEs in the January-July period in Hanoi on Wednesday.

A report of the Steering Committee for Enterprise Reform and Development indicated the pace of SOE equitization in the past months was positive, giving hopes that the target to equitize 432 SOEs towards the end of 2015 is obtainable.

As of last month, the Prime Minister had approved the restructuring plans of 20 State groups and corporations. There have been 76 enterprises restructured in the year to date, with 55 equitized, two dissolved, one sold, 15 merged and three filing for bankruptcy.

The report also mentioned some ministries and localities are slow in restructuring the SOEs under their management, including the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and Vietnam National Chemical Group as well as Binh Dinh, Nghe An, Quang Ninh and Tay Ninh provinces.

Besides, up to 84 enterprises subject to restructuring have not made any move, with some having yet to establish the management boards for equitization.

In the seven-month period, state corporations and groups divested a total VND2.975 trillion, three times higher than that of last year, but the divestment process remained slow.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung called on ministries and localities to make great efforts to achieve targets and continue improving policies and mechanisms to address the problems arising from the SOE restructuring process.
