Nhan Dan Online/VNA – The Vietnam – Chile free trade agreement, which took effect last January, has opened opportunities for the Chilean business community, Chilean Vice Ambassador to Vietnam Alvaro Guzman said at a workshop in the southern province of Dong Nai on August 1.
Under the agreement, both countries will lift tariffs on more than 9,000 products and will offer incentives for services and investment in the next three years.
It also set out provisions on market access, regulations of origin, quarantine, and technical barriers.
According to Guzman, Chilean firms are keen to work with Vietnamese partners active in agriculture, garment, footwear, food, handicrafts and consumer goods industries.
Chile will also act as a springboard for Vietnamese firms to enter other Latin American countries, he said.
Vietnamese enterprises should engage more with Chilean partners and partners from other countries to learn about different markets, Ngo Van Phong from the Department of American Market of the Ministry of Industry and Trade suggested.
The workshop was co-hosted by the provincial Department of Industry and Trade and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
