 Ms. Pham Kim Van teaching english in Australia (Photo: quehuongonline.vn) At over 70 years of age, Ms. Pham Kim Van, an overseas Vietnamese from Australia, has been teaching for the last 50 years. At present, in spite of her age, she still teaches English for students from all walks of life, in her home state of Adelaide, South Australia. Ms. Pham Kim Van is a literature teacher. She achieved the position of Principal, of a female High School in Saigon before 1975. She had taught for 14 years in Vietnam before leaving to Australia After arriving in Australia, she continued to study and improve her pedagogical competence.. During years of teaching at schools in Australia, she has helped many students from many countries, but especially, Vietnamese students, who she taught not only English but also Vietnamese. In addition to teaching Vietnamese students languages Ms. Pham Kim Van also introduced, and developed knowledge of Vietnamese culture and her secret wishes for a younger generation, into their hearts. On her 50th anniversary of her teaching, a ceremony to honor her was organized in the evening of August 18 by her students and colleagues Notably, in spite of being retired, she receives no payment for her teaching. This represents the teacher’s heart with the desire of bringing happiness to all students, especially Vietnamese students on foreign soil./. |
