A Hanoi tourist visiting the coastal resort town of Da Lat got lucky after an honest boy brought his lost wallet to the police.

The 10-year-old boy said he found the wallet on the road and quickly turned it in to the police, said Sergeant Major Ha Quoc Manh of the Da Lat Police Department. The boy left without giving his name, Manh said.

Police found VND93.5 million (US$4,416) in cash in the wallet, more than twice Vietnam’s average per capita income. The country’s per capita income was $1,890 in 2013, according to the World Bank.

They also found an identity card, a driver’s license and two phone numbers.

Police contacted the owner, Le Xuan Quan, and returned his property on Friday.

Quan said his family was visiting Da Lat and was looking for a friend’s house when he lost his wallet on Thursday.

We had to stop to ask for directions many times and the wallet must have fallen out of my pocket somewhere,” he said.
