(VOV) – A congress was held in Ho Chi Minh City to set up the Vietnam – Bulgaria Friendship Association in the 2014 – 2019 period.
Bulgarian Ambassador to Vietnam Evegueni Stoytchev spoke highly of the establishment of the Association, saying it will lay a firm foundation for effective comprehensive cooperation between the two countries. The Association will become a forum on promoting dialogues and people exchange, as well as offering cooperation prospects of future generations of both countries, he noted.
Bulgaria was one of the first ten countries establishing diplomatic ties with Vietnam in 1950. The country has helped Vietnam train thousands of officers, experts and workers.
Over the past two years, many Bulgarian senior officials and leaders have visited Vietnam, creating a framework for closer bilateral cooperation in the future.
More than 300 Vietnamese students who had studied and worked in Bulgaria have made active contributions to organizing activities to nurture and developed the two countries’ relationship.
A 15-member executive board was elected under the chairmanship of Hoang Thai Lan, aimed at promoting information exchange, increasing mutual understanding, diversifying external relations, and strengthening cooperation in economics, trade, education and training.
