Vietnamese student in Australia honoured with NSW International Student Awards

Nhan Dan Online – Vietnamese student Ly Le Quan, one of the three finalists of the New South Wales International Student Awards 2014 Higher Education category was honoured at Sydney Opera House in Sydney, Australia on September 15.


Quan, who has studied biomedical science at University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) since 2011, was the only Vietnamese student at the award presentation ceremony.


Quan has actively participated in community and volunteer work and acts as a City of Sydney International Student Ambassador, a UTS Community Connections Student Ambassador and Connection Director of UTS Medical Biosciences Body of Students. She also volunteers for UNICEF Australia, Jeans for Genes, City2Surf and ActivateUTS.


The NSW International Student Awards aim to celebrate outstanding contributions of international students to communities in NSW and recognise excellence in international student community engagement.


The annual event is delivered in partnership by StudyNSW and the NSW Department of Premier and Cabinet.


Australia is among the foreign countries with the highest number of Vietnamese students, with more than 22,000 students.
