The Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the National Assembly, the State President, the Government, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and Ha Noi authorities celebrated solemnly a grand ceremony in the morning of October 10 in Hanoi, to mark the 60th anniversary of Ha Noi’s Liberation Day (10th October,1954 and 10th October, 2014) and praise ten outstanding individuals under the title of “the capital’s eminent citizens” and 1,120 others with their good deeds in 2014.
Joining the ceremony was Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong; former General Secretary Le Kha Phieu and Nong Duc Manh; the State President Truong Tan Sang; Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung; National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung; former National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Van An; Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan; Secretary of Ha Noi Party Committee Pham Quang Nghi; leaders and former leaders of Party Committee, National Assembly, Government and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; representative leaders of ministries, departments, agencies and Ha Noi authorities; the Vietnamese Heroic Mother and veterans through previous periods; and crowded international guests.
At the ceremony, on behalf of Party and the State, President Truong Tan Sang presented the Ho Chi Minh Order to the municipal Party Committee, authorities and people of Hanoi.

Speaking at the ceremony, Secretary of the Ha Noi Party Committee Pham Quang Nghi affirmed that the 60th anniversary ceremony of Ha Noi’s Liberation Day is considered as a great historical event to open the independence era and new development step for the country.
This great achievement of Vietnam’s revolution thanks to great contribution of President Ho Chi Minh, revolutionary soldiers and people who laid down their lives for peace and independence, Mr. Nghi stressed.
For the past 60 years, under the wise leadership of the Party, Ha Noi overcame all difficulties to get a number of outstanding socio-economic achievements. Currently, Ha Noi is known as the large center of politics, economy, culture, science and technology of the country.
Hanoi has had the highest human development index in the country and economic growth rate has seen at 9 percent. Ha Noi has also expanded cooperation relations with more than 100 capitals and cities worldwide.
Ha Noi was the sole city in Asia-Pacific region to receive the “City for Peace” awards by UNESCO with its social economic and cultural achievements 15 years ago.
