He required Danang Department of Natural Resources and Environment to coordinate with contractors of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to complete Phase 1 and implement Phase 2 of the project.
During a meeting between the delegation Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and the Office of the National Steering Committee 33 to take action on conducting fieldworks and examining the deployment of handling of dioxin contaminated soils at Danang airport, Deputy Minister Bui Cach Tuyen directed that it was necessary to promote collaboration to complete on schedule.
To date, the project has treated and processed 45,000 cubic meters of contaminated soils, built 1,254 heating wells.In the second phase, the contractors are testing the dust and sewage to ensure contaminants do not escape outside the project area. The treated soil will be removed from the containment structure and tested for traces of contaminants before being used as a filling material at the site.
The five-year project aims to clean an estimated 80,000 cubic meters of contaminated soil at the airport.
