VN, Tanzania sign maritime transport agreement
State President Truong Tan Sang and his Tanzanian counterpart Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete witnessed the signing of an agreement on maritime transport between Viet Nam and Tanzania following their talks.
At the talks, the two Presidents agreed to foster political ties through the exchange of delegations at all levels, create favorable conditions for joint agriculture and telecommunication projects to be deployed soon.
They were unanimous in organizing the meeting of Viet Nam-Tanzania Intergovernmental Committee next year.
PM begins tour to India
PM Nguyen Tan Dung partook in and delivered a speech at the Viet Nam-India Trade and Investment Forum on October 27 (local time) during his official tour to the South Asian nation.
PM Dung informed around 300 participating businesses from the two countries that Indian multinational conglomerate company Tata Group and the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade are finalizing necessary procedures to begin the construction of US$ 1.8 billion Long Phu 2 thermal power plant.
He proposed the two sides utilize bilateral and multilateral mechanisms to beef up commercial and investment linkages.
Satisfactory settlement of sea issues is crucial for bilateral ties
Deputy PM, FM Pham Binh Minh and Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi on October 27 co-chaired the 7th meeting of the Viet Nam-China Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation.
Both supposed that the healthy and sustainable relationship is in line with the aspiration and benefits of the two peoples and for the sake of regional peace, stability and development.
Mr. Yang Jiechi stated that Viet Nam and China were important neighbors and the Chinese Party, Government and people attach importance to the relations with Viet Nam.
The two countries need to strictly follow the directions for cooperation development and appropriately settle and control sea divergences so as to create a favorable environment for bilateral cooperation, he added.
Farm, forestry, aquaculture exports up 11.2%
The export value of agricultural, forestry and aquaculture products in October is estimated to achieve US$2.28 billion, bringing the total exports over the past ten months of the year to US$25.39 billion, a year-on-year increase of 11.2%.
Viet Nam earned US$12.25 billion, US$5.24 billion and US$6.48 billion from exporting agricultural, forestry and aquacultural products, witnessing increases of 11.5%, 12.9% and 19.9%, respectively.
HCMC tops in attracting FDI
Ho Chi Minh City reported 332 foreign-invested projects with a total registered and additional capital ofUS$2.9 billion over the past 10 months, up nearly 98% compared to the same period last year.
The economy showed positive signs with industrial production expanding 6.8% and export value reaching US$28 billion, up nearly 10% in comparison with the same period last year.
VN-India trade value exceeds US$4 bln
Viet Nam-India trade turnover reached US$4.258 billion over the past nine months of the year, US$324 million higher than the same period in 2013.
Viet Nam’s total exports and imports to India attained US$1.766 billion and US$2.492 billion, respectively.
Dong Nai’s wooden product exports exceed US$760 million
The southern province of Dong Nai generated more than US$760 million in revenue from exporting wooden products in the past ten months of the year, representing an increase of 6% over the same period last year.
In October alone, export revenue increased to over US$89 million, up by US$12 million from the previous month.
