Thai hotel and resort company Dusit International has made its entrance into Vietnam with a contract to operate the first Dusit Thani hotel, to be developed within a mega-resort project on the country’s south-central coast.

On October 20, Dusit International signed an agreement with Russia’s State Development Company Ltd. in the resort city of Nha Trang in Khanh Hoa Province, the Bangkok-based company announced in a press release on Friday.

The Russian company is the developer of the Cam Ranh Flowers Resort, a US$90 million property including a luxury 256-room beachfront hotel – which has been branded Dusit Thani and put under the management of Dusit International.

The development also comprises ten bungalows, 117 apartments, and 56 residential villas available for purchase or rent, according to Dusit International. The 15-hectare project broke ground in March and is slated for opening in late 2016.

Dusit International said the resort will be a five-star, fully-fledged mixed-use development, which is only 15 minutes by car from Cam Ranh International Airport and 20 minutes from Nha Trang.

The property is located on Cam Ranh Bay – the jewel of Vietnam, as many believe – which the Thai company said will “allow guests and residents to take complete advantage of the area’s tempting white sands and beautiful beaches.”

“Recreational facilities within the resort complex will include the brand’s signature Devarana Spa as well as an impressive sports center with swimming pools,” the firm added.

Chanin Donavanik, managing director and CEO of Dusit International, said the launch into Vietnam marks “an exciting milestone” for the company.

“We believe that our Dusit Thani brand and trademark warm, gracious hospitality are a great fit for the market. The facilities will surely make the complex a destination not to be missed as well as pave the way for Dusit’s future expansion into the country,” he said.

With calm waters surrounded by mountains and great weather conditions, Cam Ranh is believed to be an up and coming resort destination for beach lovers, the Thai CEO added.

State Development chairman Andrey Grinev also said the company is “delighted to partner with Dusit International, a world-class hotel management company with over 65 years of experience.”

“Combined with our unwavering vision as a property developer to bring quality products to the market, together we intend to raise the bar of the hospitality industry here in Vietnam,” he said.

Dusit International was founded in 1948, and currently has over 22 hotel properties located in Thailand and other countries such as the Maldives, Indonesia, India, the Philippines, and the UAE.
