Vo Thanh Tung bagged a gold medal in men’s 100m freestyle swimming on Tuesday, his third gold at the Incheon 2014 Asian Para Games.
The 29-year-old swimmer finished with 1’21″94 to break Asian record.
Earlier, he won two gold medals in men’s 50m backstroke with 42″62 and men’s 200m freestyle with 3’2″24/
Also on Tuesday, Nguyen Be Hau won a silver medal in javelin, Vo Huynh Khoa Nam won a bronze in men’s 100m freestyle swimming and a bronze by Vietnam team in men’s 4x50m medley relay.
Earlier on Monday, Nguyen Binh An won a gold medal in men’s 54kg weightlifting with 179kg.
On October 18, Le Van Cong won a gold medal in men’s 49kg after lifting 181.5 kg to break the world’s record. Earlier, Nigerian Yakubu Adesokan set a new record of 181 kg at the 2014 IPC Power Lifting Championships in Dubai in April.
Asian Para Games, held from October 18-24 in South Korea, attracted more than 4,500 athletes from 41 countries and territories competing in 23 sports.
Vietnam has been participating in the event with 45 athletes competing in six events, including athletics, swimming, weightlifting, badminton, table-tennis and bowling.
Vietnam ranked seventh after three days at the Asian Para Games with six gold, seven silver and three bronze medals. The country previously set the goal of winning at least three golds at the event.
