Police in Khanh Hoa, Thua Thien-Hue and Dong Nai provinces are tracking down a group of men who have been brutally assaulting schoolgirls throughout the country.
In the evening of October 8, a 14-year-old schoolgirl known as N. in Dong Nai’s Trang Bom District, around 50 kilometers to the northeast of Ho Chi Minh City, was riding her bicycle home after finishing an extra-curriculum class when two men on a motorbike approached her and stabbed her in her buttocks.
After she collapsed, the men fled the scene.
N. was hospitalized with injuries to her genitals. Doctors said her bladder also suffered injuries.
Last March, around 10 highschool girls in Dong Nai’s Long Khanh Town also reported to police they were attacked by strangers who slit open their trousers and stabbed them in the buttocks. Local police have yet to find the culprits.
Between September 23 and 25, unidentified men snuck into two colleges campuses in Thua Thien-Hue Province in central Vietnam and used hard objects to hit three female students in their rear ends, one of them was hospitalized with an open wound.
In the south-central province of Khanh Hoa, at least seven similar attacks on schoolgirls were reported between February 23 and March 10, but local police have yet to find the culprits.
