VN, Japan enhance cooperation in agriculture

VGP – Cooperation in agriculture between Viet Nam and Japan is being boosted, not only by businesses but also by localities and agencies.

Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat and Governor of Japan’s Ibaraki Prefecture Hashimoto Masaru held talks in Ha Noi on October 6 to seek to increase partnership in agriculture between Viet Nam and the Prefecture.



To develop a sustainable agriculture sector in the context of the international economic integration, the cooperation in the field between Viet Nam and developed countries needs to be fostered, especially that with Japan, said Minister Phat.


The cooperation is expected to create a force for Viet Nam’s agriculture growth towards the orientation of “a medium-to-long-term visionforagriculturalsectorcooperation betweenthetwocountries”.


In the future, the two sides will concentrate on cooperation in science and technology, applying new technology into agricultural production, biological technology, processing industry, expanding direct investment in the sector.


Viet Nam expects to work closely with Japanese businesses to increase the quality of products, and the capacity of the processing industry for earning higher added value, Minister Phat added.
