93% get clean water in HCM City

More than 93 per cent of people in HCM City have access to clean water, according to the city Department of Transport.


The city hopes to increase that to 96 per cent by the end of this year and 100 per cent by the end of 2015.

Japanese firms to recruit 850 workers


A job transaction floor to hire workers for Japanese companies in HCM City will be set up in Binh Thanh District on November 22 by the HCM City Centre for Job Introduction and the Centre for Job and Enterprise Supporting Service of HCM City Export Processing and Industrial Zones.



Thirty Japanese businesses seek to recruit 850 people to work in areas like Japanese translation, accounting, industrial electronics, human resources, and information technology. The salaries offered will range from US$300 to $500 a month.

Former drug users given jobs


More than 55,000 reformed drug users have been provided jobs and vocational training after leaving rehabilitation centres since 2011, a conference on livelihood support for rehabilitants organised by the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs heard in Ha Noi on Friday.


Of them, 40,000 got free vocational training, over 13,000 were provided jobs, and 2,000 people got low-interest loans worth more than VND10.7 trillion ($486 million) to start businesses.

Accident insurance for fishermen unveiled


The Ministry of Finance organised a conference in Ha Noi on Friday to announce insurance policies for fishermen.


In case of accidents, fishermen will get up to VND70 million ($3,100) while the premium is only VND300,000 annually.
