(CPV) - Airbus on November 22nd has introduced its all-new A350 XWB to Hanoi’s Noi Bai International Airport for the first time, as part of a five city Asian demonstration tour. The visit of the A350-900 MSN5, a flight test aircraft, has been organised in association with Vietnam Airlines, which will become one of the first airlines in the world to fly the aircraft in the middle of next year. Altogether, Vietnam Airlines has ten A350 XWBs on order with Airbus and will also acquire four more aircraft under lease agreements. Production of the first aircraft is already underway at the Airbus final assembly line in Toulouse, France. The carrier will operate its A350 XWB fleet on premium long haul routes, beginning with services between Hanoi and Paris. The A350 XWB is the latest addition to the market-leading Airbus Widebody product line. Seating up to 369 passengers in a two class layout, the aircraft can fly non-stop flights of up to 8,000 nautical miles. It features the latest aerodynamic design, carbon fibre fuselage and wings, plus new fuel-efficient Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines. Together, these latest technologies translate into unrivalled levels of operational efficiency, with a 25 per cent reduction in fuel burn and emissions, and significantly lower maintenance costs. For passengers, the A350 XWB brings new levels of in-flight comfort, with an extra-wide cabin offering more personal space in all classes, including 18 inch wide seats as standard in economy class. For premium classes the aircraft will enable airlines to install the most comfortable lie-flat seats in optimised layouts, while passengers in all classes will enjoy the latest in-flight entertainment and connectivity systems. The super-quiet cabin also features wide panoramic windows and large overhead stowage compartments, as well as the latest draught-free air conditioning system allowing precision temperature control. The aircraft displayed in Hanoi is fitted with an Airbus two class cabin layout with 42 lie-flat business class seats in a four abreast configuration and 223 economy-class seats with 32-34 inch pitch set nine abreast. The aircraft on display is also fitted with special flight test equipment. The A350 XWB has been especially successful in the Asia-Pacific region, where airlines have ordered a total of 244 aircraft, representing a third of the 750 orders recorded so far worldwide. In addition to Vietnam Airlines, major customers from the region also include Asiana Airlines, Air China, Cathay Pacific Airways, China Airlines, Japan Airlines, Singapore Airlines and Thai Airways International. Following stops in Seoul, Tokyo and Hanoi, the A350 XWB will also visit Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur next week, before returning to home base in Toulouse after a tour of Asia lasting a total of eleven days./. |
