(VEN) – The General Statistical Office said that the consumer price index (CPI) this July increased by 0.27 percent from June, a 2.68 percent increase from December 2012 and a 7.29 percent rise from a year ago.
Ten of the 11 CPI-calculated categories increased from June, excluding post and telecommunications services. Nothing decreased in price.
The fastest increasing categories in July included transport growing by 1.34 percent from the previous month, housing and construction materials up by 0.43 percent, and culture-entertainment-tourism up by 0.31 percent.
Medical services increased slightly by 0.05 percent, education up by 0.09 percent, and restaurant and food services up by 0.1 percent.
The price of gold fell by 6.28 percent from June, while the price of the US dollar increased by 0.68 percent. However, these categories were not included in the list of CPI-calculated goods./.
