— Vietnam always gives favorable conditions for German investors to run long-term business in Vietnam, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has told visiting German Vice Chancellor and Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy Sigmar Gabriel at their meeting in Ho Chi Minh City on Friday. The guest said that that Germany is keen on boosting partnership with Vietnam in all fields, especially economics, trade, investment, culture, education, and tourism.

— The Party Central Committee’s Commission for Inspection on Friday issued a conclusion conforming that Tran Van Truyen, a former member of the Party Central Committee and former chief of the Government Inspectorate, has committed many wrongful acts to obtain ownership over houses and land during his office term as well as after he has retired. The Commission has requested that the authorities of Ho Chi Minh City and the southern province of Ben Tre withdraw two houses from Truyen.


— Rescuers in the south central province of Ninh Thuan on Friday found the bodies of two of the six fishermen who went missing when their fishing boat sank off the province a day earlier. The found bodies were of Nguyen Duc Phuc, 35 (the ship’s captain), and Nguyen Canh Tuong, 18. Efforts to search for the remaining four victims are underway.


— A huge piece of rock fell from a mountain in Khanh Vinh District, Khanh Hoa Province to the road that link the two cities of Nha Trang and Da Lat on Friday afternoon, totally blocking the traffic. The rock is so large that no means of transport could could be used to remove it from the road. It is expected that explosives will be used today, November 22, to handle it, local transport authorities said.


— An inspection team led by Major General Nguyen Chi Huong, deputy chief of staff of the Military Zone 4 on Friday inspected a site in the Cua Khem Cape in the central city of Hue, where a Chinese-invested project is located after being licensed by the Thua Thien-Hue province authorities. The inspection was made as the site is of importance in terms of national defense, the team said.


— A couple in Cu M’Gar District, the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak, are keeping and caring for a girl newborn they found left in their mountain field, with a sheet of paper put besides the baby, reading: “Please bring up this pitiful baby.” The couple will carry out procedures to adopt the baby if nobody receives her as their daughter.

— The volume of trucks imported into Vietnam from China in the past 10 months of this year has increased as much as 205 percent compared to the same period last year, according to the General Department of Customs. Such a dramatic increase is due to the prices of lorries made in China are much cheaper than those manufactured in other countries, including those in ASEAN and Europe, according many truck importers.


— According to a new circular issued by the State Bank of Vietnam, the total balance of lending granted to businesses engaged in stock investment and trade must not exceed 5 percent of the chartered capital of a bank. The new cap, which will be effective from February 1, 2015, is much lower than the current 20-percent rate.

— A friendship concert will be conducted at the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music at 5 pm Saturday, with the participation of students from Singapore’s Mandeville Conservatory of Music and the Music Aptitude Development Center under the HCMC Conservatory of Music. The event opens free to the public.

— The Vietnamese football squad will face their Indonesian rivals at the My Dinh Stadium in Hanoi at 7 pm Saturday (Vietnam time) in the first match of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2014.
