Chairman of the city People’s Committee received and worked with the business delegation from the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry

On the morning of 29 October, at Haiphong City Convention Centre, Chairman of the city People’s Committee Duong Anh Dien received and worked with the business delegation of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) on their working visit to Haiphong to study about the city’s investment environment. Mr. Le Thanh Son, Vice Chairman and leaders of relevant departments and agencies also attended the reception.

At the reception, representative of the delegation said JCCI has a large member network of 514 Chambers of Commerce with more than 1 million enterprises, more than 1 thousand of which have made investment in Vietnam. Attending the foreign delegation were Japanese enterprises operating in all-sided fields, some have already invested in Vietnam while others are studying the local investment opportunities.Earlier, in Hanoi, the delegation had a talk with the Ministry of Planning and Investment and Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry on matters relating to investment climate in Vietnam. After working in Hai Phong, the delegation visited Quang Ninh to survey the economic region of North Vietnam (Hanoi – Hai Phong – Quang Ninh). In Hai Phong, the delegation visited several industrial parks in hope of finding out opportunities for collaboration and increasing the number of Japanese businesses in Haiphong, thereby, tightening the relationship between Vietnam and Japan.Chairman Duong Anh Dien thanked the delegation for visiting and studying investment opportunities in Hai Phong. Chairman Dien highly appreciated the relationship between Haiphong and Japan and stressed that these resultshave mainly come from ODA support of Japanese Government for Hai Phong and the investment of Japanese businesses in the city over the past 20 years. Many large businesses have been in Haiphong such as Nomura, Honda, Fuji Xerox, Bridgestone, etc. City Chairman expressed his admiration for the commitment, professional competence and management capability of Japanese firms. He also introduced potentials and advantages of the city’s infrastructure system with an abundance of covenient transport means, preferential policies for investment businesses, and hoped that through this factual survey, the delegation will collect necessary information to consider and make investment decisions in Hai Phong.
