Consulting businesses on strategic issues concerning the development of customs service is one task of the Customs - Business Working Group, created to boost the mutual relations.

To heighten the development of customs – business partnership, in June 2014, the customs sector set up the Customs – Business Working Group. One of the key tasks of the working group is consulting business associations.

With consultations, customs authorities will have more information and solutions to current and future issues. It is important that the concerned parties will find the common ground and the business community will feel their responsibilities and rights more clearly. This is the fundamental characteristic of consultation, which is different from the current mechanism where authorities receive opinions from enterprises.

The customs sector is currently carrying out reform and modernisation and realising international commitments. The legal system, organisational structure, operational method, management, technology and infrastructure are gradually renovated and improved. This process needs consultations from businesses to enhance the service of customs authorities.

The Customs – Business Working Group under the General Department of Vietnam Customs will consult businesses on legal policies, management methods, administrative procedures, operations, customs integrity and scientific and technological application.

According to the Customs Reform and Modernisation Committee, the Customs – Business Working Group will host a consultative meeting with business associations in November.
