VGP – PM Nguyen Tan Dung has passed the Master Plan of culture, family, sports and tourism development in the key central economic region through 2020, orientations towards 2030.
Accordingly, the region including five provinces of Thua Thien-Hue, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai and Binh Dinh will become a major sports center and a national-level tourism hub.
The region will focus on promoting its sea and island and heritage tourism potentials, preserve and uphold the values of world’s heritages and national special relics, especially those of ethnic minorities.
Six national tourism sites namely Lang Co-Canh Duong (Thua Thien-Hue); Son Tra, Ba Na (Da Nang); Cham Islands (Quang Nam); My Khe (Quang Ngai); Phuong Ma (Binh Dinh) will be further developed.
Bai Choi folksongs documents will also be submitted to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) for its recognition as the world’s intangible cultural heritage in 2015.
Da Nang and Hue cities is expected to become a cultural, art and scientific research centers for the whole central region and highland provinces as well.
The master plan sets the target to welcome 10 million foreign visitors and 15 million domestic guests to the region by 2030, creating 140,000 direct jobs.
Earlier in October this year, PM Dung also approved a master plan on developing the key central economic region towards 2020, vision to 2030. Accordingly, the key central economic region will reach an economic growth 8% by 2015 and 9% in the period of 2016-2020. The GDP per capita is expected to be 80 million VND, approximately to 1.1 – 1.2 times as compared to average GDP level of the whole country./.
