(Cinet)- An exhibition showcasing 189 works by 119 authors has opened in at Vietnam Fine Arts Museum on November 20.



The works selected from 459 entries in the third national applied fine arts competition, launched on April 11 by the Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibition under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.


The artists utilised a wide variety of materials and sophisticated techniques to create works with high applicability in production and consumption.


First prizes went to ceramic “fish lamps” model by Hoang Van Anh from Hanoi and posters advertising the 2014 International Circus Festival by Le Thi Tien from Hue city.


The organising board also presented three second, four third and 18 consolation prizes to other outstanding works.


Organized by Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibition (under MOCST). It is held every five years, aiming to honour the achievements of Vietnamese applied fine arts over the past years and giving an opportunity for artists and craft professionals to showcase their fine art and promote the exports of Vietnamese fine art works.


The event will last until December 03.
