(VOV) – Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s visit has been widely covered by the Russian media in recent days, underlining the trip as fresh momentum towards the stronger ties between Vietnam and Russia.
Prior to visit, Tass- Russia’s largest news agency has published an interview given by Party Trong themed “Vietnamese people are always grateful to the Soviet Union and Russia”.
Many newspapers, the Russian mass media have run wide coverage of the important periods of the Vietnam-Russia sound bilateral relations.
Ahead of the visit, the Far East Institute under the Russia Academy of Science hosted a roundtable discussion on the prospects for Vietnam – Russia relations in the new context, attracting numerous experts and researchers.
Dmitry Mosyakov, Director of the Centre for Southeast Asian, Australian and Oceanian Studies under the Institute highlighted Trong’s visit as a practical contribution to the strategic comprehensive partnership in the two nations’ common interests.
Over the past days, information about the activities of the Vietnam delegation has been ceaselessly updated on the Russian mass media including major newspapers such as ITAR-TASS, Echo of Moscow, Pravda, Rossiskay Gazeta, Novateka, Rosbalt, Rambler, Lenta, Russia-Today and Vzglyad.
Notably on November 25, the most important activities of the visit gapped the media attention with articles on the talks between General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and President Vladimir Putin and his meeting with Prime Minister Medvedev.
President Vladimir Putin stated that the supply of agricultural products from Vietnam to Russia may increase significantly in the current conditions while Prime Minister Metvedev affirmed a series of important cooperation documents would be signed during the visit. “We are so elated that we are strategic partners.” said Metvedev.
For his part, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong confirmed, “Vietnam has always regarded Russia as its strategic partner. And this is a very important foundation for the vigorous growth of cooperative affiliation between the two our countries.”
Prof.Dr Vladimir Mazyrin, Director of the Far East Institute’s Vietnam-ASEAN Research Centre under the Russian Academy of Science underlined the need for both nations to intensify high-level delegation exchange aiming to consolidate trust and take regular joint actions.
Dr. Evgheny Glazunov, honorary Chairman of the Russia-Vietnam Friendship Association described the visit as a major event demonstrating the time-honoured friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Russia.
“With dozens of years of working experience in Vietnam, I’m glad to see the relationship between our two countries growing considerably with remarkable success, thus deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership as well as fraternity and mutual understanding.” Glazunov said.
