DEZA announced the position of Dung Quat Thermal Power Plant on November 4



​ Dung Quat Economic Zone Authority has just announced the position of province’s first large-scale multi-billion USD project of thermal power plant invested by Sembcorp Utilities Pte (Singapore).




It is released that the total area of project would be 143 hectares in Binh Dong commune, Binh Son district Quang Ngai province, of which the main plant wii cover a total of 74 hectares.


With a designed capacity of 1,200 MW, the coal-burn power plant – once accomplished – will supply 7 billion kwh electricity per year.


It is planed that the 2.5- billion USD B-O-T project will be granted investment certification by 2016.


According to DEZA, the project leads to a massive relocation of over 2,000 families with a total of 7,200 people, and the cost of land acquisition is calculated to be 1,700 billion dong.


Currently, the province has already chosen an area of 200 hectares in Van Tuong urban for the new living areas of relocated people.


The relocation is released to complete in 2016, when all clean site will be handed over to the investor for construction.


Being approved by Vietnamese Government to belong to the National Electricity Planning VII, the project of Dung Quat Thermal Power Plant is expected to push Dung Quat site to be the top attractive multi-functional complex in the central region of Vietnam.


According to the investor, the plant’s first generator will start commercial production in September 2020, and it will officially operate at full designed capacity one year later.
