(VOV) – Vietnam and Thailand are set to hold a joint cabinet meeting for the third time in Thailand although they have not yet agreed upon a specific date.

According to Thailand’s “The Nation Online” this decision was made at a recent meeting between Deputy Prime Minister cum Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh and his Thai counterpart Tanasak Patimapragorn on the margins of the 25th ASEAN Summit in Myanmar.

The meeting between the two top diplomats aimed to strengthen the cooperative relations and strategic partnership between the two nations.

Both sides held joint cabinet meetings in 2004 and 2012. In a joint cabinet meeting most recently, the two countries have reached a number of agreements, especially their consensus to raise two-way trade turnover to US$ 15 billion by 2020.

Vietnam and Thailand have stricken an agreement to upgrade bilateral ties to a level of strategic partnership during the Thailand visit by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

The two sides have now embarked on realizing this agreement in many spheres.
