The eighth Japan ICT Day 2014 took place in Hanoi on October 30, with nearly 100 delegates from 47 Japanese companies – the biggest number of Japanese appearances so far. Notably, two delegations visited Vietnam for the first time to find partners, namely the Sapporo delegation with 12 businesses and the Nippon Software Industry Association (NSA) with 20 companies. The delegation of the Japan Information Technology Services Industry Association (JISA), the coordinator of Vietnam Software and IT Services Association (VINASA), hosted eight Japan ICT Days and led 18 companies to join.

Held within the framework of the Vietnam – ASOCIO ICT Summit 2014, the event had many side meetings, contacts, symposiums and business matching. Beside nearly 100 business delegates from Japan, ASOCIO ICT Summit 2014 also welcomed many international companies from Korea, Israel and Malaysia. The Organising Committee said the business matching programme witnesses more than 1,000 contacts and meetings arranged and concluded with cooperation prospects.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Minh Hong appreciated VINASA’s efforts in promoting Vietnam – Japan IT cooperation with various specific activities like organising trade promotion trips, connecting information of Vietnamese and Japanese businesses, supporting Vietnamese businesses to promote their names on international markets, including Japan.

“Japan ICT Day 2014″ took place in the context that Japanese firms are showing their increasing interest in Vietnam as an attractive destination for BPO, outsourcing and offshore investments. Many Japanese firms have moved operations from China to Vietnam.

According to the Information-technology Promotion Agency (IPA) of Japan, Vietnam has remained the second largest partner of Japan since 2012 and become the “most preferred partner” of Japanese businesses in a survey carried out by this agency. 31.5 percent of respondents voted for Vietnam, compared with 20.6 percent for India and 16.7 percent for China).

Sharing open opportunities in Japan at the Japan ICT Day 2014, Nguyen Ich Vinh, General Director of Tinhvan Outsourcing Joint Stock Company and Vice Chairman of Vietnam-Japan IT Cooperation Club (VJC), said “Vietnam is standing before a great opportunity to expand markets, scale up the size and deepen IT relations with Japan but, to seize this opportunity, Vietnamese businesses must regard this as a long-term strategy and have resource investment to have a good command of Japanese language and meet quality requirements from Japanese firms. For Tinhvan Outsourcing, such strategy is to make active long-term investment in human resource development and in-house training to build and develop a capable workforce to take on any strict requests from customers. That strategy is also reflected by Japanese language training, corporate culture construction, customer loyalty building and employee devotion building.”

He confirmed that Tinhvan Outsourcing joined the Japanese market not only to provide services but also have the desire to become a mutual growing partner with Japanese companies.

Also within the framework of Vietnam – ASOCIO ICT Summit 2014, on October 27, VINASA published a list of “Top 30 ICT businesses in Vietnam in 2014″ for the first time. The list includes very popular names like Tinh Van, HiPT, FPT Software, CMC and NTT Data Vietnam. This practical event of VINASA helps promote the brand image of Vietnamese IT businesses to more than 100 countries and territories around the world.
