Vietnam to have 24 TV, radio channels for Ovs

NDO – Vietnam plans to provide 10 TV and four radio channels in the 2015-2017 period, increasing to 20 TV and four radio channels in the 2018-2020 period to serve overseas Vietnamese (OV) around the world.


The information is part of a VND411,7 billion (US$19 million) scheme on providing TV and radio services on Internet for OV in the 2015-2020 period, which has been approved by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.


The communication channels will be on air based on Internet TV technology on the web, TV and mobile devices. It is expected to serve one million users daily and 200,000 users at a time on different devices.



In order to reach the set targets, the scheme stated three major tasks: providing Internet TV and radio services for OV, producing quality TV and radio programmes for OV, and evaluating and examining the services’ provision.


The scheme also calls for improvements in editing and producing programmes communicating achievements in the renewal process, policies and laws of Vietnam, as well as information about economic and external affairs, foreign investment attraction, trade promotion, tourism and international integration of the country.
