Vietnam’s largest-ever film project announced

VietNamNet Bridge – A VND85 billion ($4.2 million) film project will be implemented in 2015, starring two talented actors, Truong Ngoc Anh and Kim Ly.


The movie, titled “I am Wanted” is a joint project of filmmakers from Vietnam, Sweden and Canada. The film is adapted from two bestselling novels in Sweden by David Larsson – “I am Wanted” and “I’m Daniel” whi,ch tell a story about a real character, a Vietnamese-Swedish man named Daniel Luthman.


Daniel was born in Vietnam and was adopted by a Swedish couple. After ups and downs in his life, Daniel became a notorious criminal in the underworld in the city of Stockholm.


Daniel has a son with his ex-wife but the relationship between father and son was not good. In a bank robbery, Daniel was cheated by his gang, who took the money and shifted the blame on him.


Daniel was pursued aggressively by Albanian mafia, who wanted to rob the money that he did not hold. Daniel planned to return to Vietnam for two weeks to hide but there he met a Vietnamese woman named Lan and stayed here for two years.

Screenwriter of the film is James Schultz, who has talked with the real character Daniel Luthman many times to get the most authentic details about Daniel.


The film project is initiated by producer and actor Kim Ly and is funded by the Swedish Film Institute and Canadian Film.


With a budget of $4 million, 25% of the scenes will be shot in Sweden and 75% in Vietnam. The film will be produced in three languages, including English, Swedish and Vietnamese. The movie will be technically completed in Canada.


“I Am Wanted” will be produced by a multinational film crew: Director Beata Gardeler from Sweden, scriptwriter James Schultz and producer Niv Ficman from Canada and two leading actors – Kim Ly and Truong Ngoc Anh – from Vietnam.
