Recently Mr Phung Quang Hung, Chairman of Vinh Phuc’s Peoples Committee, met and worked with the Central Association of Small and Medium Enterprises in Okayama Prefecture, Japan led by Mr Takenori Hanaya, CEO of the Association, to implement programmes to send provincial workers to Okayama Prefecture, Japan for training.
At the working section, Chairman Phung Quang Hung introduced potentials, advantages and socio-economic situation of Vinh Phuc in recent years as well as production and business activities of Japanese enterprises in the province. Mr Phung Quang Hung emphasised the shortage of skilled labour, being unable to meet needs of businesses in the province in terms of quantity and quality; plan for labour export of the province in the future, especially labour export to Northeast Asian markets, focusing on demands for qualified labour resources in Japan market. At the same time, he hoped to receive more support from Japan, helping Vinh Phuc improve its labour force to meet the needs of the industrial development of the province.
On behalf of the Japanese business delegation, Mr Takenori showed his gratitude for hospitality and trust of the leadership in Vinh Phuc province towards Japan and especially in Okayama Prefecture, while confirming the good friendship between Vietnam and Japan over the past 41 years. Mr Takenori Hanaya also said that the Japanese population is aging, hence the demand for labour is becoming more urgent. Firms in Japan in general and Okayama Prefecture in particular welcome Vietnamese people to work, study and live in Japan. Okayama Prefecture will implement all commitments so that employees from Vinh Phuc as well as those from Vietnam will be trained in Okayama Prefecture with the best quality and efficiency. Mr Takenori hoped that trainees from Vinh Phuc province would have been skilled to better meet the increasing requirements of the province in the near future.
The meeting witnessed the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on sending workers in Vinh Phuc to Okayama, Japan for training. This programme belongs to the treaty, expecting to send 800 – 1000 employees of Vinh Phuc to Okayama Prefecture annually, helping them acquire skills, techniques and knowledge that the Japanese industry now owns, for the purpose of technology transfer to Vietnam; contributing to the training of human resources to serve the development of industry in Vietnam in general Vietnam and Vinh Phuc Province in particular.
Japan is among the leading investors in Vinh Phuc. A series of companies such as Honda, Toyota and Yamaha are greatly contributing to local economic development, as well as creating thousands of jobs for local workers.Hien Nam
