The expanded plant will have three turbines with a combined output of nearly 10 billion Kw per year.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy PM Hoang Trung Hai highlighted the importance of the project which is expected to give a strong boost to the development of the province and ensure electricity supply for the South.

The project will be financed through diverse financial resources, especially from Japan in a bid to lessen the budget burden, he stressed.

The VND22,775 billion project is part of the EVN’s efforts to build three thermal plants with aggregate capacity of around 4,400MW in the Southern province from 2011 to 2020.

Earlier on December 8, 2012, Deputy PM Hoang Trung Hai officially attended the ground-breaking ceremony for Duyen Hai 3 thermal power plant project./.
