The central city of Da Nang is seeing a recovery in industrial production and trade activities thanks to its effective measures to support businesses, said Director of the municipal Department of Industry and Trade Phan Van Kha.
The city’s industrial production value is estimated at 37.5 trillion VND (1.78 billion USD) in 2014, up 10-10.5 percent from the set target and 10.8 percent against the previous year, while export revenue is likely to reach 1.15 billion USD, up 13.3 percent year-on-year.
Total revenues from retail sales of goods and services are expected to hit 62.6 trillion VND (2.98 billion USD), a year-on-year rise of 17.6 percent.
Kha attributed the positive results to policies and measures the city has carried out during the “Da Nang Business Year 2014″, which have provided enterprises with financial and technical assistance as well as easier access to land and information.
The municipal authorities have also regularly held dialogue with businesses and speeded up administrative procedure reform.
The Department of Industry and Trade coordinated with the Ministry of Industry and Trade to implement a programme on transferring 100 technologies from the Republic of Korea to local companies.
In addition, the municipal People’s Committee pumped 120 billion VND into the city’s Investment Fund for Development to make it easier for businesses to access loans. To date, 19 enterprises have been provided with loans totaling 42.5 billion VND.
The committee plans to make 2015 another Business Year in Da Nang to build on the success of this year.
The city will also carry out a project to increase the productivity and product quality of local small and medium-sized enterprises from now to 2020.-VNA
