Among the highlights were bold prints, 3D geometric design, futuristic fashion, see-through fabric, and three theme colors – black, white and red.
Bold prints made by 3D printing technology could be the most noticeable of the fashion week. There were butterfly’s winds in a new collection by local designer Adrian Anh Tuan, tropical fruits’ images in the creations by Claire Cornille from France and roses in theme colors of black and red by Thai designer Roj Singhakul of the brand ISSUE. Additionally, local young talent Chung Thanh Phong featured urban road images in his costumes while Japan’s Somarta delivered abstract patterns.
This year, many fashion houses have unveiled their 3D geometric designs in haute couture collections. Those designs require highly skillful techniques.
At the VIFW, Le Thanh Hoa from Vietnam impressed audiences by his evening gowns pleated in flower petals and Thanh Nga from French brand Defined Moment created slender fan-shaped dresses. Ly Giam Tien, winner of this year’s Project Runway Vietnam, brought his creations in 3D pleated techniques combined with optical art.
Futuristic costume was a hit at the event since local veteran designer Nguyen Cong Tri amazed local audiences on the opening night of the fashion week. Tri used plastic and laser cuts to create his collection No. 8. Frederick Lee from Singapore used feathers for his innovations while On Aura Tout Vu from France introduced accessories inspired from the images of snow.
See-through design has become trendy since last year and is expected to keep its allure until the Spring-Summer 2015 season. Veil, silk, and chiffon materials were transformed into graceful outfits at the VIFW. Audiences could admire this trend in Li Lam’s collection made from silk and linen and Hoang Hai’s evening gowns made from sequins and pearls and Antonio Grimaldi’s ready-to-wear designs.
What were hot at the event should be three basic colors of black, white and red. Fashion designers creatively used new materials of plastic, organza, and leather in color-blocking, fringe, and geometric styles to produce elegant and minimalistic looks. Tsolo Munkh from Mongolia, Defined Moment from France, Song Zio from Korea, ISSUE from Thailand, Le Thanh Hoa, Hoang Minh Ha, Ly Giam Tien, Adrian Anh Tuan, and Cong Tri from Vietnam covered the stage by their creations in these three immortal colors.
