Between September 2011 to October 2014, Hai Phong attracted 124 newly-licensed FDI projects and 91 capital-increased FDI projects with the total capital newly invested and adjusted of more than USD 5.402 billion. Of which, many large scale and high quality FDI projects mainly focused on hi-tech processing and manufacturing industries, typically the Bridgestone Factory Project with a total investment of USD 574.8 million, Nipro Pharma Corporation with USD 250 million and the hi-tech manufacturing and assembly project of LG Electronics Vietnam – Hai Phong with total investment of USD 1.5 billion … Besides the hi-tech projects, in period 2011-2014, a number of investors from Japan and the United States have come to Haiphong to seek investment opportunities to construct high-ranking commercial buildings, hotels, business centers and golf courts, namely Daiwa House, Fujita, Sujitsu, Minato, Chyoda, Hilton (USA)… Notably, the project of 5-star hotel in cooperation with Hilton Group is scheduled to be commenced in the first quarter of 2015. In order to improve the efficiency of FDI attraction in the coming period, city leaders required all sectors, branches and localities to raise awareness of the role of FDI and define this as one of the main driving forces to promote socio-economic development of the city in the years to come. Concurrently, the city should enhanceinvestment promotion in various ways; step up the administrative reform, improve the investment environment, accelerate the implementation of key infrastructure projects and industrial parks’ infrastructure; strengthen management, instruction and supervision over enterprises to operate in accordance with the law and environment protection; focus on training on-the-spot human resources of high-quality to serve FDI projects. |
