The police in Cau Giay District in the capital city of Hanoi on Friday seized a shipment of wildlife illegally transported by motorbikes to a wildlife slaughterhouse in the center of the city.
According to the police, after inspecting the vehicles, police detected the shipment including two pangolins, five civets, and an animal which is a variety of porcupine. Among the seven animals, six were still alive, except a civet.
From the testimony of the motorbike riders, the rushed to a location which turned out to be a wildlife slaughterhouse in Phu My Village in Nam Tu Liem District, Hanoi.
After entering the place, the police discovered a pangolin, many porcupines, and mongooses locked up in a cramped cage, many of which were put into mesh bags to be ready to take to local restaurants.
The case is currently under investigation.
