Confidence vote results for NA’s Party Committee announced
Confidence vote results on 57 holders of leading positions of the Party Committee of the National Assembly (NA) were announced on December 25, with NA Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu earning the highest number of high-confidence votes with 93.16%.
The vote, which was held for the first time, is subject to Vice NA Chairpersons who are not members of the Politburo or the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat; Chairperson and Vice Chairpersons of the NA’s Ethnic Council, heads and deputy heads of the NA committees, and heads of the NA Standing Committee’s institutes.
36 types of scrap approved for importation
The PM has issued a decision listing 36 types of scrap to be imported into the country for production purposes.
The decision, which will become effective on February 5, 2015, names such waste materials as plaster, kraft paper and paperboard, and scrap bronze and aluminum.
Provincial IP schemes by 2020 adjusted
The PM has given the green light to adjustments to industrial park (IP) schemes by 2020 of 31 provinces and cities.
Administrative procedure reform brings about positive results
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc chaired a working session on December 25 with the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) on administrative procedure reform since the ministry was tasked with State management in this field two years ago.
Reports at the meeting by the MoJ showed that during the last two years, administrative reform was in progress and recorded positive results, contributing to fulfilling national socio-economic development tasks. Regulation management on administrative procedures reform has been more coherent with the development and evaluation of legal documents and law implementation monitoring.
Budget collection outstrips forecast
As of December 22, 2014, budget collection reached VND 831.19 trillion, equivalent to 106.2% of forecast, according to the Ministry of Finance (MoF).
The figures were announced recently at a conference on the MoF’s 2015 tasks.
MoIT connects to NSW mechanism
The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) on December 25 officially linked to the national single-window mechanism (NSW) under the witness of Deputy PM Vu Van Ninh.
Accordingly, the MoIT will provide procedures relating to the granting of ASEAN preferential certificates of origin (C/O Form D); import licenses of motorcycles with high cubic-centimetre and importation licenses of ozone-depleting chemicals.
Earlier, the Ministry of Transport (MoT) on November 12 officially launched the NSW customs mechanism at international seaports.
Further interest rate cuts for pilot rural development projects
Since January 1, 2015, projects on rural development under a pilot preferential credit program stated in Resolution 14, dated March 3, 2014, will get interest rate cuts for their loans.
The new regulations replace Decision 1050/QD-NHNN, dated May 28, 2014 on on guidelines for the pilot program of the models of linking production and consumption of agricultural products and hi-tech application in agricultural production.
VNA launches new terminal at Noi Bai Int’l airport
National flag carrier, Viet Nam Airlines, launched a new – Terminal 2 – at Noi Bai International Airport with the first flight with some 167 passengers on board to Singapore having departed on December 25 at 10:45.
The new Terminal 2 has 48 check-in counters located at the G and H islands with plans to expand a dozen more counters at the E and F islands in the time ahead, more than doubling the current number of check-in counters.
Traffic accidents claim 9,000 lives in one year
In the year ended December 15, 2014, there were 25,322 traffic accidents throughout the country resulting in 8,996 fatalities and 24,417 serious injuries, according to the National Traffic Safety Committee (NTSC).
The death toll in the one year period from traffic accidents saw a decline of 4% compared to the prior year. The total number of accidents and injuries were also down from 2013’s figures by 13.8% and 17.2%, respectively.
The NTSC reported that in 2014, 199,396 cars and more than 2.5 million motorbikes were registered. Traffic police dealt with more than 4.3 million violators with total fines of VND2,577.84 billion.
Tourism sector records highest growth in revenue
The tourism sector posted a highest ever increase of 15% year-on-year to VND230 trillion (US$10.9 billion) in revenue despite an array of difficulties in 2014.
So far this year, Viet Nam welcomed 37.5 million domestic and 8 million international tourists, respective rises of 7.14% and 5.64% on an annual basis.
The results were attributed to the sector’s efforts to expand key tourism markets and stimulate domestic tourism demand, heard a press conference on selecting the top ten culture, sports and tourism events of the year held in Ha Noi on December 25.
Banknetvn and Smartlink officially merged
The two largest payment card networks in Viet Nam, VietNam National Financial Switching Joint Stock Company (Banknetvn) and Smartlink Card Services Joint Stock Company (Smartlink), were officially merged on December 25.
The two firms started merging works since 2012 under the direction of Governor of State Bank of Viet Nam (SBV)./.
