Nguyen Hieu Liem, vice chairman of Nova Group, told reporters in HCMC on Monday that the partnership with Kerry is a milestone for the property firm to realize its strategy to provide quality and safe food, including meat, fish, egg and milk for this market.
Nova has plans to spend more than US$50 million developing farms for raising dairy cows in Ireland, where there are favorable climate conditions for this business, and a distribution system in this market.
In addition, the group will work with Kerry to set up systems to manage and process food, from input material to finished products, before shipping these products to Vietnam for sale.
The two sides will also join forces for human resource development in preparation for producing premium formula powdered milk at affordable prices.
Vo Thuy Anh, general director of Anova Joint Stock Co., a member of Nova Group, said the group and Kerry will cooperate for 10 years before considering a partnership extension. As planned, the company will launch its Anka milk products for children in late March or early April next year with prices nearly 20% lower than the same products on the market.
Edmond Scanlon, president and CEO at Kerry Asia Pacific, said Kerry is a global supplier of dairy ingredients and powdered milk for children. It has invested more than 100 million euros in Kerry Global Nutrition Application Center where over 800 scientists and nutritionists do research and develop formulas for infants and children.
Leaders of Nova Group and Kerry assumed Vietnam’s milk market still has much room for more players despite the presence of many major milk brands as the number of people drinking milk frequently remains low.
Headquartered in Tralee, Ireland, Kerry specializes in supplying nutritious materials and products for global food, beverage and pharmaceutical industries. The group has total revenues of some 5.8 billion euros and around 24,000 employees working at its manufacturing, sales and technology facilities worldwide. Kerry provides more than 15,000 products for customers in over 140 markets.
Nova Group has two main businesses Anova and Novaland. Anova operates has four animal feed and veterinary facilities and a distribution network of more than 1,000 agents nationwide, and exports products to 22 markets. Novaland has 18 projects under construction in HCMC including Sunrise City, Tropic Garden, The Prince and Lexington.
