Thailand’s National Day celebrates in HCM City

(VOV) – The 87th birthday anniversary of Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Thailand’s National Day (1927-2014) was celebrated in Ho Chi Minh City on December 9.


In his speech, Vietnam-Thailand Friendship Association (VTFA) Chairman VTFA Truong Hoang extolled expanded cooperation between the two countries in various fields by promoting senior delegation exchange and growing trade and economic ties, as well as cooperation in education, tourism, defence and security.


Thai Consul General to HCM City, Panpimon Suwannaponge said this year marked the first visit to Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha’s Vietnam after taking office, during which both sides signed the 2014-2016 action programme on Vietnam-Thailand strategic partnership.



The Thai diplomat said her agency and the Thai community living in the South will be ready to cooperate with the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO)’s to propel the bilateral relationship forward.


Vietnam and Thailand are set to raise two-way trade turnover of US$15 billion by 2020.


Thailand has so far poured more than US$220 million in 135 projects HCM City.
