Dap canh giua khong trung (Flapping in the middle of nowhere) won the Special Mention award of an annual film festival in the France city of Nantes on Sunday.
Jury of the Three Continents film festival, held from November 25 to December 2, awarded the Special Mention prize to Nguyen Hoang Diep’s feature-length debut, of which the screening shows were fully filled by local audiences.
Aurelie Godet, a member of the festival’s jury board, said that the film, which has claimed many prestigious international prizes recently, has surprised her with its precise emotions.
“Flapping in the middle of nowhere totally surprised me with its feminine and emotional style, especially the way they put the precise lyrics into the scenes,” said Aurelie at the awarding ceremony of the 36th annual festival.
Nguyen Hoang Diep, the film’s female director, sang a love song instead of her lecture at the awarding ceremony.
Diep said that the song, featuring the love of a poor man for his girl, was used to feature her love for film making which she voted to try her best efforts to satisfy.
Dap canh giua khong trung earlier claimed the Best director prize at the Bratislava international film festival in Slovakia and the Special Jury’s award at the Hanoi International Film Festival late last month.
