Vietnam willing to assist to find missing Air Asia plane

The Hanoitimes – Deputy PM, FM Pham Binh Minh Pham Binh Minh on December 28 had a telephone talk with Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno L.P. Marsudi, asserting Vietnam’s willingness to join search and rescue efforts for missing AirAsia flight QZ8501.


The Vietnamese Government and people expressed deep concern with the families of passengers on the missing flight. The Indonesian FM updated Binh Minh on the latest developments of the incident and thanked for the offer of assistance.

Deputy PM, FM Minh affirmed that Viet Nam stands ready to assist in the search efforts for the aircraft which lost contact with Indonesian air traffic control early Sunday.


Passengers on board the Airbus A320-200 include 155 Indonesian, three from the Republic of Korea, one from the UK, one from France, one from Malaysia and one from Singapore.


Rescue activities have been resumed on the early morning of December 29 after being suspended over the night due to bad weather. The plane lost contact with air traffic control on the morning of December 28 while flying from Indonesia city of Surabaya to Singapore with 162 passengers and crew members on board.
