– Another four-kilometer section of a stretch spanning from An Phu- Mai Chi Tho streets in District 2 to one end of the Ho Chi Minh City- Long Thanh- Dau Giay Expressway in District 9 was opened to traffic on Saturday.


– The HCMC Department of Transport has just proposed to the city’s People’s Committee that a local company be selected as the investor of a project to dredge up Xuyen Tam Canal in Binh Thanh and Go Vap districts. The project is worth an estimated VND5,100 billion (US$237.67 million) including site clearance and construction costs.


– The Government Office on Tuesday dispatched documents to competent agencies regarding the Prime Minister’s conclusion on easing immigration inconvenience for international tourists. The Prime Minister also instructed the Ministry of Finance to make amends to the regulations on visa fees. For the time being, sea travelers are charged $5 each person in visa fees. The new visa process under a new immigration procedure requires as many as seven stamps, instead of one as before, to be fixed on their passports and visa forms, which is considered detrimental to the local tourism sector.


– A group of leading experts from Hanoi and Da Nang Hospital announced after a consultation on Saturday that the blood indexes of Nguyen Ba Thanh- the chief of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Internal Affairs, are quite stable but still need close monitoring. Thanh is quite alert and has managed to eat some food.


– The temperature at O Quy Ho Pass in Sa Pa town in the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai dropped to below 0 Celsius degree from 9pm on Friday to past midnight on Saturday, causing snow to fall in many areas. The snowfall limited drivers’ visibility and caused several-hour traffic jam on National Highway 4D from Sa Pa to neighboring Lai Chau province and the other way around.


– Thailand’s Ministry of Labor has announced it will expand a migrant worker registration program for Vietnamese workers after discovering a large number of Vietnamese people who work in the country without a permit.

– The presence of the young soccer players from the much-loved Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) – Arsenal JMG Academy has heated up the expectant atmosphere prior to an upcoming match between Dong Tam Long An and HAGL. The match, which is part of the second round of the Toyota V-League 1 2015 and is poised to take place this evening at a stadium in southern Vietnam’s Long An Province, will air live starting 4.30pm on national broadcaster’s VTV6.
