(Cinet)- An exhibition featuring Haiti’s traditional and festive costumes and hand embroidery products opened at the Haitian Embassy in Hanoi on January 12 to kick off the Haitian Cultural Week in Vietnam.
The opening ceremony showed videos introducing Haiti’s tourism and gastronomy, followed by an exhibition featuring the traditional costumes and embroideries of the Caribbean country.
Visitors were also treated to Haitian food, including griot (fried pork), acra (malanga and salted fish), beef patties, and fried plantains.
The week-long event aims to highlight the beauty of Haiti’s culture to potential visitors and enhance the traditional friendship and political-economic cooperation between Vietnam and Haiti.
The programme is being sponsored by the Embassy of the Republic of Haiti, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Viettel Telecom Group, in celebration of Haiti’s National Day (January 1) and in commemoration of the 2010 earthquake’s devastation.
The event will last through January 16.
