As many as 1,000 impoverished households in three communes in the central province of Quang Nam have been given free medical check-ups and gifts thanks to a campaign implemented on January 24-25.
The drive was jointly organised by the Vietnamese Red Cross and the Vietnam Young Physicians’ Association in honour of the upcoming Lunar New Year (Tet) festival.
The delegation, joined by Ha Thi Khiet, head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Mass Mobilisation, also presented two households with special difficulties, each with 50 billion VND, to build houses.
In a similar act, Minister of Public Security Tran Dai Quang visited and offered Tet gifts to poor ethnic minority households in Buon Ma Thuot city of the Central Highlands province Dak Lak on January 25.
The minister also presented the Ede-inhabited villages of Pan Lam and Ko Sier 100 million VND each to take care of the disadvantaged residents during the Lunar New Year festival, which falls on February 15-23.
