PANO – With 33 minutes and 33 seconds, athlete Hoang Thi Thanh from the Army was the first to conquer Ba Ra mountain in a national mountain-climbing tournament held on January 6th in Phuoc Long town, Binh Phuoc province.
Thanh was named the 2015 Ba Ra Mountain-Climbing Queen.
This tourney, the 11th of its kind under the official competition system of the Vietnam tracks and fields, drew the participation of nearly 1,000 athletes from 20 teams nationwide.
This is among the first sports events to welcome the Lunar New Year 2015 in Vietnam.
The Binh Phuoc province’s team ranked the first in team category, followed by the army which bagged two gold, two silver and four bronze medals.
In men’s 7.7km, athlete Hoang Nguyen Thanh from Binh Phuoc province successfully defended his No. 1 position with 34 minutes and seven seconds.
