(VOV) – The Vietnamese Government esteems and hopes to practically and effectively develop bilateral ties with Saudi Arabia.
The statement was made by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung at a January 14 reception for Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador Dakhil Al Johani who has taken up duties in Vietnam.
PM Dung said bilateral relations between Vietnam and Saudi Arabia have been developing positively in many fields. He suggested that the two countries should strengthen mutual understanding, trust and support at international forums, particularly in the United Nations.
The Vietnamese Government always supports Saudi Arabian investors operating in a long-run in Vietnam, Mr Dung stated, adding that the two countries should strengthen ties in oil and gas development and labour cooperation and soon sign agreements on investment encouragement and protection and bilateral air transport. The two countries aim to raise two-way trade turnover to US$2 billion by the end of this year.
For his part, Ambassador Dakhil Al Johani promised to do his utmost for the implementation of the signed agreements and the signing of new ones, including the investment encouragement and protection agreement to create a legal framework for cooperation activities.
The ambassador said Saudi Arabia considers Vietnam its important and potential market and promised to do his best during his term of office to witness strong progress in cooperative relations between the two countries.
