Functional agencies were required to focus on drastically realizing the fight against smuggling, trade frauds, and counterfeits.
The Hai Duong provincial Steering Board (SB) for Prevention and Fighting against Smuggling, Trade Frauds and Counterfeits (389 SB) on January 30 held a conference to summarize the prevention and fighting against smuggling, trade frauds, and counterfeits in 2014 and implement tasks for 2015.
In his directive speech at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Duong Thai, Standing Deputy Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, Head of the provincial 389 SB, required member branches of the provincial SB and the People’s Committees at district, city, and provincial town levels to focus on drastically realizing the Prime Minister’s direction on the fight against smuggling, trade frauds, and counterfeits in 2015, especially on the Lunar New Year occasion; further promote the coordination between the permanent body with departments, boards, branches, and local authorities in the fight against smuggling and trade frauds; complete operational regulations and work out the work in 2015 for the provincial 389 SB to submit to the board head for consideration and promulgation in February 2015; and intensify the propaganda of information and mobilization of the people to fight against smuggling, trade frauds, and counterfeits in the province.
In 2015, the Department of Trade and Industry (the provincial 389 SB’s permanent body) should continue to coordinate with local authorities and provincial functional agencies to conduct inter-branch inspections of some key commodities before, during, and after the traditional Lunar New Year and unannounced inspections of several sensitive venues and commodity groups to enhance trade performance.
Local People’s Committees should closely monitor market developments and well inspect and control essential commodity groups and branches.
Mass media agencies should strengthen information propaganda to raise the provincial people’s spirit of combating trade frauds.
According to incomplete reports of departments, branches, and local authorities, the provincial 389 SB in 2014 handled 1,983 violations of trade and transport of forbidden, contraband, counterfeit, and commercial fraud goods, labeling, food safety, business registration, and other acts. The total amount of money collected from administrative violation penalties and sale of confiscated goods reached more than VND3.6 billion.
