PANO – The visits to Vietnam by German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier and by the President of the German Bundestag Norbert Lammert in this March to open the Germany-Vietnam Political Dialogue are among numerous activities to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Germany diplomatic ties (1975-2015).
The information was revealed by German Ambassador to Vietnam Jutta Frasch at a press conference held on January 21st in Hanoi.
The German ambassador said that a series of cultural and artistic programs will introduce a general view on Germany to Vietnamese people. Highlights of the programs include a Germany Festival for people of all ages on March 28th, and the German Film Festival in September.
At the press conference, the German ambassador also emphasized the effective and intensive strategic partnership between the two countries in politics, foreign relations, trade, education and training.
She held that at present more than 4,600 Vietnamese students are studying in Germany while over 8,000 others are studying German language in Vietnam under the support of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
This year, Germany would like to boost the dialogue on the State governed by law with Vietnam and is going to discuss and approve the three-year action program in coming weeks. The country also targets to further support Vietnam in key areas as vocational training, environmental protection and green growth strategy.
Notably, the German Embassy is pushing up the establishment of the Joint Foreign Chambers of Commerce in Vietnam and this body is expected to make debut this year.
