Health Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Tien toured hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City to check treatment task on Lunar New Year ( or Tet holiday) on February 18 or December 30th ( of Lunar Calendar).
The Health Minister visited Tu Du Maternity Hospital, the Trauma and Orthopedics Hospital, Cho Ray Hospital and the Army 175 Hospital
At Tu Du Maternity Hospital, Ms. Tien presented gifts to mother-to-be. She asked medical workers to work around clock to ensure the task on the special occasion.
Hospital director Le Quang Thanh said that on February 19 (or the first day of the lunar year) 100 women gave birth and all of them are safe.
The Health Minister asked medical workers of the Trauma and Orthopedics Hospital to take turn to work and to be ready to provide treatment to accident victims since the number of injured people taken to the hospital increased every year.
At Cho Ray Hospital, by statistics, on February 18, the Emergency Ward received 141 cases; of them 50 people were injured from traffic accidents due to drunkenness. Doctors had to conduct operation for 13 people. Some 830 patients stayed in the hospital during the Lunar New Year.
Hospital deputy director, Dr. Nguyen Van Khoi, said that the hospital has 8 emergency teams who are ready to provide treatment to emergency cases in these days.
The Health Minister also visited and gave Tet gifts to medical workers in the Army Hospital 175.
Ms. Tien appraised medical workers’ working spirit and their efforts to serve patients. In addition, she ordered not to be neglected on diseases and critical cases.
