(VOVworld) – Expressing deep concern about the situation in Gaza, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-Moon and the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Nabil el-Araby made an urgent appeal on Saturday, asking donors to disburse as soon as possible the financial commitments they made at an October 2014 conference convened to kick-start reconstruction in the war-torn enclave.

The conference, held in Cairo last year, saw pledges from some 50 countries amounting to about 5.4 billion USD for Palestine, half of which is for reconstruction in Gaza. However, the United Nation had to stop its support program for victims of Israel attacks in the Gaza strip due to not receiving enough money from committed countries.
